The plan is to build a 75-acre solar park which has been approved by town councillors would give an alternative to turbines
A £15m solar park on a Gwyneed farm would be 'massive contribution' to renewable energy and an alternative to wind turbines, say developers.
German company Kronos Solarwants want to build a massive solar park on 75 acres of farmland. Speaking from Munich, Kronos boss Dr Alexander Arcache said, "It will be a massive contribution to creating renewable energy - first and foremost as an alternative to wind turbines."
He said the solar park will be in existence for 25-30 years and work on building it could start in the autumn and take about three months to complete.
He added, "There will be no new grid infrastructure and no new pylons required for the development. It will be connected to the existing pylons and to a 33k Volts line."
Felinheli Councillor Sian Gwenllian said, "I am broadly supportive of the application at this stage and await to see the response of the various agencies and the community council.
"We need to help farmer who strive to make their businesses more viable, securing long term investment to help maintain farming families in this area."
